Peintures Récupérées du Québec inc. owes its begins to the CFER (a job training and recycling centre for young people), which was founded in 1989 by the Victoriaville School Board and is managed by Mr. Normand Maurice. At the beginning, only paper and cardboard were recycled. Then came the idea of adding paint remains.
Around the same period, the Quebec Government passed a regulation on the recovery and recycling of discarded paint and paint containers, which makes it mandatory for manufacturers to invest in the recycling of their products. The project was developed in cooperation with interested partners, and in July 2000, Peintures Récupérées du Québec inc. became independent from the CFER. Since then, the organization has experienced steady growth and generated a great deal of interest.
